Dave Mason Jr. Strapping into the eBay Motors Prolite for his National Series Debut
After a delayed season start due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series finally started. Dave Mason Jr. and his Mason Off Road team had been waiting for months to debut the #65 eBay Motors Prolite.
Rounds One and Two of the Series were held this past weekend at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, CA. Sadly, the event did not have fans in attendance. However, online streaming of the event was provided live on Lucas Oil Racing TV, which had a significant viewership.

ROUND ONE:
Dave Jr. qualified 8th for the start of round one on Saturday. He was getting into a good rhythm and improving his speed on each lap. With just a few laps to go the eBay Motors Prolite experienced some mechanical issues that ended the teams day early. Dave Jr. finished two laps down in 10th place.

"It was not the outcome we wanted," said Dave Mason Jr. after having to retire the truck early. "But we learned a lot today and I have confidence in my team and myself to make big improvements in tomorrow's race."
After a long day and many changes the eBay Motors Crew was ready for round 2
ROUND TWO:
Taking what they learned from Saturday's race, the eBay Motors Team made repairs and significant setup changes to the truck on Saturday evening. Dave Jr. spent the evening breaking down video with the team's Crew Cheif, Steve Barlow, who's also an accomplished off-road racer.
The hard work on Saturday night proved to pay off. Dave Jr. qualified 9th for the start of Sunday's round two. The eBay Motors Prolite was looking strong and consistently fast throughout the race. Dave Jr. fought hard battling some of the best in short course off-road to move up through the pack. He took the checkered flag with a solid 5th place finish.

"We really learned a lot this weekend," stated a smiling Dave Mason Jr. after the race. "As a team, we progressed all weekend and that's what I'm pleased about. The guys worked very hard to improve the setup of the truck and I gained a great deal of knowledge about driving these Prolite trucks. It's very different than any of the other vehicles I've raced. But we improved every time we went out on the track. I can't wait for the next event."
Final turn before finishing the day with a solid top 5 finish.
Dave Mason Jr. and the eBay Motors Team have just a few weeks and a long ways to travel for the next event. Rounds three, four, and five are scheduled for August 21st - 23rd at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO.
SIDE NOTE: Dave Jr. also won the best Mustache of the weekend contest.
